A Better Vision

Kris Munn has an ambitious agenda for his term in the Assembly:

I feel that it is vital that all voters are as educated as possible when it comes to the candidates they may be voting for. In support of this idea, I want to make it as easy as possible for you to understand where I stand on the critical issues that are facing us in Nevada today.

I stand against the tax and spend politicians who have mismanaged the state budget and now put their fiscal irresponsibility squarely on the backs of the Nevada citizens.

Nevada has a severe spending problem. Generating more revenue through taxes does not hide the fact that current legislators have created a government spending problem and they are not willing to confront the issues head on.  Instead, they expect us hard-working taxpayers to continue to pay for their fiscal irresponsibility.

I stand firm in protecting the rights of taxpayers by signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge , stating that I will oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes.  I will work together with my like-minded colleagues in pursuing methods to reduce our government's spending habits and find solutions that will prevent our government from growing ever-larger.

I am committed to improving education.

Although funding is important, the solution is much larger than dollars alone.  Many current politicians just want to keep throwing your hard-earned tax dollars at the problem. We cannot stand by and leave the future of education in our community to just the unions and administrators.  We can only achieve true success by bringing the teachers, community, and businesses together and deciding what is important for the children of this state.

According to Robert W. Sweet, Jr., staff member on the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce , more than half of the Fortune 500 companies have become educators of last resort, with the cost of remedial employee training in the three R's reaching more than $300 million a year.  To prevent businesses from continuing to spend millions of dollars each year to train employees with remedial education, my mission is to connect employers with schools to realize a shared vision and common goals to enhance our schools with a higher level of graduates and educational relevance to the workforce.

During my time in the military, I watch as troubled programs received more and more funds only to continue to spiral towards failure.  Until the problems are addressed and solutions found, the money will be used to keep the programs afloat.  By working together we can achieve what fails to be achieved through ever-expanding tax increases.
